Spotlight on speech and drama

Congratulations to our speech and drama superstars in Willow Lodge and Junior School for their resounding success in this summer’s LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examinations.

LAMDA speech and drama classes are an increasingly popular co-curricular activity in Willow Lodge and Junior School and 2025 saw more than 100 children take exams in Verse and Prose.

In their LAMDA lessons, children use performance to help them develop confidence, physical presence, creativity and public speaking skills with a specialist teacher.

Similarly to music grades, children take exams each year, building towards Grade 8. This year, we were delighted to celebrate excellent results, with a 100% pass rate and more than 90% of our infant and junior children achieving a Distinction.

LAMDA teacher Ravanne Hamer congratulated the children, whose achievements were celebrated in assembly. She said: “I am so proud of all of the children. 100% of them achieved a Distinction or high Merit and this is a reflection of their hard work and commitment.

“They have been brilliant to work with, bringing masses of enthusiasm and creativity to every lesson. LAMDA is a great way for children to develop their communication skills and I have loved seeing them grow in confidence throughout the year. Well done to all of them!
