Talented Removes make Lunchtime Live debut

On Tuesday, 12 March, staff and pupils gathered in the Music Recital Hall for the latest in our regular series of Lunchtime Live sessions.

The most recent lunchtime concert treated pupils and staff in the audience to a varied and entertaining programme from our talented strings and wind players.

Making their debut performance, our Removes strings group played an excellent rendition of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

All members of the group began playing in September as part of the Let’s Get Playing scheme, which gave all Removes pupils free weekly lessons on a brand new instrument for their first term in King’s Senior School.

Head of Strings, Mr Lansom, was full of praise for the group.

He said: “I was very proud of the Removes strings group today who played confidently to give a great performance. I am so pleased that so many of them chose to continue with their instrumental lessons and I look forward to hearing more from our newest viola, violin, cello and double bass players as they move through the school.”

The audience was also delighted by the soloists and small groups who performed, including an oboe duet, flute ensemble and our piano, clarinet and violin trio.

Many thanks to all of the musicians who performed, some of whom are pictured here.
