Team Sceptic or Team Believer? Author Danny Robins Conjures Up Spine-Tingling Tales

Spellbinding author and playwright Danny Robins, best known for his hit podcasts and stage shows exploring the supernatural, visited King’s today to launch his new book Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Pupils from Queen’s Park High School and Blacon High School joined the ghoulish gathering in The Vanburgh Theatre, which mixed spine-tingling tales with lively discussion about the mysteries of the paranormal.

Robins began by sharing some of his favourite chilling encounters, from haunted houses to unexplained tidy sheds. He then asked pupils to declare their allegiance: were they “Team Sceptic,” convinced that science and logic can explain away every shadow, or “Team Believer,” ready to accept that something stranger might be at work?

The author went on to challenge students to become ghost detectives themselves. They were asked to solve classic paranormal mysteries, weighing up the evidence like true investigators. Laughter and gasps echoed around the hall as theories ranged from the sensible to the spooky.

Finally, Robins invited the young audience to let their imaginations run wild by drawing their favourite historic ghosts. Sketches of spectral monks, headless horsemen, and phantom soldiers soon filled the room, proving that Chester’s rich history provides plenty of ghostly inspiration.

Speaking afterwards, Robins praised the creativity and curiosity of the pupils and chatted with several of them at a book signing in The Wickson Library, before being interviewed by two roving reporters Serena and Giovanna from the school newspaper The Coronet.
