‘Tis the season to be generous

Charity prefects Mica Hird (U6GLA) and Calum McCaig (U6GRO) have been very busy this term with a number of local, national and international charities benefitting from the appeals and collections they have organised.

Since the beginning of this half-term, tutor groups have been filling shoeboxes for our Teams 4U appeal and last week, Calum and Mica sent more than 160 shoeboxes on their way to overseas orphanages.

Donations for our other appeals have also continued to flood in, with a further 60 pairs of socks and chocs going to Share this week, and our total for Cheshire West Foodbank topping 300kg.

On Sunday, members of King’s Rowing Club were joined by some of our teachers at the annual Santa Dash in Chester. The 5k race sees thousands of Santas run through Chester city centre to raise funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Countess Charity. The first Santa to cross the finish line this year was King’s Sixth Former, Hugh Hudson (U6GRO).

In order to boost the total raised for Hospice of the Good Shepherd, we are asking for a £1 donation from each pupil on Christmas Jumper Day. On Tuesday, 14 December, pupils are asked to swap one item of uniform for a Christmas accessory. That might be a Christmas jumper, or could be a tie, socks or even shoelaces!

As always, huge thanks goes to King’s pupils and parents for their generosity this term.
