Bands and Bridges at Willow Lodge!

As the Summer term reached its conclusion at Willow Lodge, our Infants enjoyed an array of fun activities.

A visit from a local Chester rock band was definitely among the highlights as the pupils were treated to a fantastic live performance. The band played a selection of popular songs including Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’. In between songs, each member of the band explained their individual instruments and the importance of teamwork when both composing songs and playing to an audience.

Another end of term highlight was the architecture workshop where pupils were challenged to build a bridge from wooden poles and elastic bands. During the workshop, pupils learnt the importance of triangles in maintaining a solid architectural structure.

The pupils were also shown examples of famous bridges from around the world including Sydney Harbour Bridge, to emphasise the importance of this architectural concept. At the end of the session, the pupils had managed to build a full bridge, which they could all sit under.

A great way to end a fantastic term!
