Witchborn witchcraft at King’s!

We were delighted to welcome former pupil, Nick Bowling (OKS2003), back to the school to promote his new book; Witchborn.

Nick is an author, stand-up comic, musician and Latin teacher who now lives in London. Nick studied Classics and English at Oxford University, graduating in 2007. He then went on to complete a Masters in Greek and Latin Language and Literature in 2010. Following his graduation from Oxford, Nick taught at Trinity School, Croydon.

In addition to writing, he is also a budding comedian and has performed stand-up at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He also co-wrote, recorded and released an album and two EPs with soul-folk singer Mary Erskine, Me For Queen.

Witchborn is Nick’s debut novel, it took him five years to perfect, including several rewrites – the book was launched in late 2017.

During his visit to King’s he spoke to our senior school pupils, sharing with them an insight into his creative thought process whilst writing his book. This was followed by an exclusive book signing session, where pupils were able to purchase a signed copy of Witchborn.

The afternoon included a tour around the school and an opportunity to meet former teachers, before Nick hosted a workshop for pupils in the library. Pupils were encouraged to write their own short stories based on the themes of witchcraft.
