On the 25th annual World Book Day, Junior School pupils have been celebrating books and the magic of reading.
The day began with the traditional parade. This is a great opportunity for the pupils – and teachers – to show off their wonderful costumes and we saw Harrys and Hermiones parading alongside Willy Wonkas, the Three Musketeers and a host of other well-loved characters.
Form activities were all book-themed and included quizzes, word searches and even a blind date with a book!
A highlight of the day was at 10.50am when the whole school came together in the Consterdine Hall to read for 10 minutes and a rare and special silence fell over the school.
In the afternoon, pupils were joined (virtually) by Hannah Gold, author of The Last Bear which has been shortlisted for the 2022 Blue Peter Book Award.
