Careers Breakfast: Meg Gareh

On Friday, 13 January, it was a pleasure to welcome King’s Alumna Meg Gareh (OKS 2018) to speak at our first Careers Breakfast of the new term.

Students from all year groups and a number of members of staff gathered in the Old Library to hear Meg talk about working on conservation and sustainability projects for B Corp travel company, Flooglebinder.

Since graduating with a Masters in Geography from Lancaster University last year, Meg has been leading UK and overseas projects, specialising in the links between Geography, Conservation Biology and Ecology.

Alongside hearing about Meg’s career path to date, students were interested in the variety of Meg’s project, such as working with loggerhead turtles in Kefalonia, elephant conservation in Sri Lanka and coral reef restoration in Thailand.

Head of Careers, Dr Hensman, thanked Meg for her time.

He said: “We are always delighted when alumni come back to school to talk about their careers, especially when, like Meg, they are working in a job that they are passionate about.

“It was hugely beneficial for our current students to hear about everything Meg did around her studies – volunteering, coaching netball, networking – to give her the experience and confidence to secure a job that is relevant to her degree, and aligns so well with her personal values.”

Careers Breakfasts will run on Friday mornings until Easter. Students are encouraged to sign up on SOCS.
