Help needed for the production of 'Jekyll and Hyde'Help, please! As the King’s production of Jekyll and Hyde draws excitingly closer, the production team would very much appreciate the help of the wider School community in sourcing essential props and stage furnishings. Hence, if you possess and feel able to lend us any of the items listed below, I should love to hear from you on annmariemcmahon@kingschester.co.uk:
1 x hostess trolley Various chemical vessels 1 x portable fireplace (c.4 feet high) 6 x low, circular stools (wooden or wood effect) 3 x small, circular tables (tavern-style) 1 x mirror, possibly on legs or wheels 1 x small, leather, Victorian-style armchair 1 x small occasional table (on which Jekyll will write his notes, seated in the armchair – see above) 1 x single bed (possibly of the old-style hospital bed type?) with mattress and covers (strong enough for Hyde to commit murder on) 1 x sword in a cane 2 x gentlemen’s walking canes 1 x Velcro handcuffs 2 x walking sticks 1 x pocket watch 8 x period-style bottles and tankards 2 x comedy beards 2 x wooden brooms 1 x jar of ointment (old-fashioned jar) 6 x Victorian-style newspapers (to be sold) 1 x leather suitcase 1 x white cane (as used by a person who is blind) 1 x easily removable ‘diamond’ necklace (cheap, with Velcro fastening) Our aim is, of course, to treat all items with respect, but, equally, it is clearly impossible to give an absolute guarantee that nothing will be damaged. We are, of course, hugely grateful for all offers of help, but we should prefer not to have responsibility for items of high financial or sentimental value. We hope to start amassing props and stage furnishings in School as soon as possible. Larger items can be collected or may be brought to the Theatre Office at the back of the Vanbrugh Theatre; smaller items may be left at Reception. In all cases, we should be grateful if items could be clearly labelled for my attention and with the owner’s name. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me in School. I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, (Dr) Ann Marie McMahon |
