Chas Sumner (OKS 1978) has book published on the History of Chester Football Club !The story of the Chester Blues is retold in fascinating detail across the 320 pages of a book which gets its long-awaited re-release next week. On the Borderline, Chas Sumner’s definitive account of Chester’s senior football team, published in 1997, has been fully updated by its author.Lifelong fan Chas, 52, of Kelsall, who left Kings's in 1978 decided to begin work on a revised edition last year, shortly after the demise of the old Chester City FC.He said: “As soon as the old club died, I had it in my mind to do the book. I realised that this was the ideal time so I got to work.”
A newly-pe Chas, who continues to follow the Blues home and away, said: “The book draws a line under the old club.“I do touch on the new club, which is a subject worthy of tackling in its own right, but this book is about the old club. It brings closure.” The book also contains pages and pages of painstakingly-researched statistics and records, all of which have been updated.The story of the team’s triumphant rebirth is one waiting to be written.
