Cricketers bowl over opposition in the Lord’s Taverners National Cup

King's U15 cricket teamThe U15 cricket team has enjoyed further success following their County Championship victory last year, representing Cheshire in the Lord's Taverners National Cup. This is school cricket's most prestigious competition and, after an impressive away win at Pocklington, they hosted Repton School in last week's Northern Semi-Final.

Repton won the toss and elected to bat, posting an impressive 213 for 7 in their 40 overs. This would be a tough target to chase, but team captain Guy Dunbavand (4PN) and opening partner Henry Makings (4ET) were in imperious form and shared an opening stand of 120.  As the overs ticked away, the aggressive James Hattersley (4EH) came in to bat, smashing 38 off 21 balls to effectively win the match for King's. Guy had the honour of hitting the winning runs with 9 balls to spare, to leave him on 87 not out and King's on 217 for 5.

Sedbergh School or St Thomas More await in the Northern Final, meaning that King's are in the top eight schools in the country at this age level.
