King’s Staff vs Pupils' rowing race
In July, a number of staff members, consisting of current teachers and coaches took on a VIII provided by the school which comprised of athletes from the boys and the girls squads as well as athletes from each year group squad. They competed against each other in a 500 metre race.
It was an excellent afternoon for everybody, and an enjoyable race which rounded off the 2011 season perfectly. Both crews lined up at the corner for the last race of the year. The pupils got away well, leading off the start however 100 metres into the race the staff pulled back level and took a commanding lead of 3/4 length, despite tiring in the last 100 metres, the staff managed to hold off the challenges of the pupil VIII to win by 1/2 length.
